Bluefin Ads Manager
The short version
- Bluefin Ads Manager is the tool our team uses to run Google Ads Search campaigns through the Google Ads API.
- We use it for Bluefin Studio's own advertising, and for clients who have linked their Google Ads accounts to our manager account.
- It is not a public product. Only Bluefin Studio staff use it, and there is no sign-up.
- It asks for access to Google Ads accounts only, and uses that access only to manage and report on campaigns in accounts we manage.
What it does
Bluefin Studio is a design studio that builds websites and AI front desk assistants for small businesses. We also advertise our own services on Google Search, and manage Search campaigns for a small number of clients.
Bluefin Ads Manager keeps each campaign as a written configuration file: the budget, ad groups, keywords, negative keywords, ads, location targeting, and conversion tracking. The tool:
- checks the configuration against our own rules (Search campaigns only, exact and phrase match keywords only, a negative keyword list, and conversion tracking set up before any money is spent);
- shows a plain-language plan of every change for a person on our team to review;
- once approved, creates or updates the campaign in Google Ads through the Google Ads API;
- pulls a weekly performance report (clicks, cost, and conversions) for our budget review.
Every change is started and reviewed by a person. The tool never changes a campaign on its own or on a schedule, and every change is recorded in a log.
What Google data it uses, and why
When a member of our team signs in with Google, Bluefin Ads Manager asks for permission to manage Google Ads accounts. It uses that permission only to:
- create and update campaigns, budgets, ad groups, keywords, ads, and conversion actions in the Google Ads accounts we manage;
- read campaign performance so we can decide where the budget goes.
It does not access Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, or any other Google data. It stores campaign configuration and summary performance numbers only. We never sell or share this data, and one client's account data is never mixed with or shown to another client. Sign-in credentials are kept only on our team's own computers.
Bluefin Ads Manager's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
